Large-Scale Design Around Existing Features
The homeowners had a swim spa and wanted to maximize the space surrounding it. They needed a large, durable deck that would work around the existing fixture while delivering a high-end finished appearance that could handle heavy entertaining.
Prime Home Improvement designed the deck around the swim spa, creating one unified outdoor entertainment space with the spa as the focal point and safe access on all sides.
Coconut Husk With Purposeful Contrast
Coconut Husk decking forms the main surface, bordered by a contrasting Dark Cocoa picture-frame edge. This two-tone combination creates visual sophistication, while the darker border defines the perimeter and adds depth to the large deck surface.
Against the warm decking sits a modern black Select aluminum railing. The clean lines and dark finish create striking contrast while providing clear sightlines across the deck. Three custom gates ensure flexible access around the swim spa while maintaining the railing line.
Managing Large Spans With Precision
When decking is built to this size, breaker boards become essential. They prevent long composite spans from expanding and contracting unevenly, keeping the deck stable and flat for years to come. This structural detail separates a well-built deck from one that will show movement and gaps over time.
Black-framed lattice skirting finishes the underside, providing a polished appearance while allowing airflow beneath the deck. The finished look extends to every angle.
Lighting for Evening Entertainment
Low-voltage stair and riser lighting ensures safe navigation while extending evening use. The integrated fixtures blend with the deck’s dark finishes and support the homeowners’ vision for an after-dark entertainment destination.
